Instructional Basketball
Fundamentals Come First
- Every practice should emphasize core skills: ball handling, passing, shooting form, layups, defensive stance, and footwork.
Everyone Gets Reps
- Players should be active and engaged. Drills should keep lines short and maximize touches so every athlete gets many repetitions.
Teach One Thing at a Time
- Coaches should give simple teaching cues and focus on one key skill at a time so players can understand and apply it.
Encourage Effort and Confidence
- Instructional basketball is about learning and improvement. Coaches should praise effort, support mistakes as learning opportunities, and build player confidence.
Development Over Winning
- The purpose of instructional basketball is to help players improve their skills, understand the game, and develop a love for basketball.
Communication Method
Our program uses TeamSnap One to handle all registrations, communications and scheduling.
